LIFEGUARD, TEMPORARY PART-TIME

Position Type: Temporary Part Time

Number of Positions: Six (6)

Department: Community Services Department - Recreation Division

File Number: SV26-114

Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Road, Belleville, ON)

Hours: Varied with availability for weekday, weeknight and/or weekend shifts

Employee Group: Non-Union

Salary:$18.75-$20.54 per hour

Closing Date: Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 4:30 PM

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, Lifeguards are responsible for lifeguarding and maintaining patron safety at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain vigilance and safety supervision of all participants.
  • Work in a team to ensure safety and quality of programs prevail.
  • Attend scheduled training and development sessions.
  • Provide a positive customer service experience and ability to address customer concerns.
  • Report concerns, accidents, and incidents to immediate supervisor, or on-call supervisor, as needed.
  • Provide appropriate first aid treatment and documentation, as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks appropriately, and in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) with Vulnerable Sector Check (“VSC”) prior to commencing work in this role.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of age prior to employment.
  • Hold the following minimum valid qualifications:
  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED
  • Availability for weekday, weeknight, or weekend aquatic programs.
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification is considered an asset.
  • Previous Lifeguard experience is considered an asset.
