Responsible for the safety, supervision and discipline of all persons using deep or shallow water pool facilities. Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training / First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications. Administration of Emergency Oxygen and Waterpark Lifeguard certifications preferred. Works under direct supervision
of Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard. Must be willing to work other than normal work hours, and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department. Must successfully pass annual lifeguard water skills review test, attend pre-season training, on -site pool training. Must be 15 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean appearance and positive demeanor.

Each applicant must have the following certifications:

Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations
