At The Y, safety and fun go hand in hand. As a Lifeguard, you'll help create a safe, welcoming environment where our community can stay active, build confidence and enjoy the water.

Working alongside a supportive team, you'll supervise our pools and surrounding areas, ensuring the highest standards of safety while delivering a positive experience for every visitor.

If you're a confident swimmer, enjoy working with people and can stay calm under pressure, this could be the perfect role for you. You'll enjoy flexible casual hours, free facility membership, and the chance to build valuable leadership and life skills while making a real difference in your community.

To be considered, you'll need availability for:

  • 2 midweek shifts per week
  • 1 weekend shift per week
  • 5-hour shifts

About you:

You are a self-motivated and customer service focused individual. You thrive in a fast paced environment and enjoy a challenge. Your superior communication and observation skills, along with your ability to keep calm and act quickly in an emergency situation will see you excel in this role!

You will also come with or be willing to obtain the following:

  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Pool Lifeguard Licence
  • Previous experience in an aquatic facility (desirable but not essential)

About The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
