Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Pay Transparency: $17.00- $20.00 per admin hour (DOE); Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay depends on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, work experience, and other business needs.
Role and Responsibilities
The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of the swimming pool environment and must closely monitor and rescue swimmers.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Project and promote a professional image
- Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
- Rescue swimmers in need of assistance
- Demonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPR
- Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance
- Monitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck and minimized the possibility of patron injury
- Conduct routine chemical test of the water on an hourly basis
- Keep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testing
- Perform routine maintenance of pool and pool equipment
- Effectively supervise the swimming area from an elevated Lifeguard chair
- Attend all in-service trainings
- Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
- Work as a TEAM with all other departments
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Other Functions
- Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
- Promote club services and activities
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment
- Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
- Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
- Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Lifeguards must maintain the following:
- - American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training).
- - American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training).
- - American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training).
- Performance test are as follows:
- - Swim 300 yards continuous
- - Tread water for two minutes using legs only
- - Demonstrate the proper use of rescue equipment
- - Perform aquatic rescue & CPR/AED skills
- Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
- Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry

- AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
- Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
- Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
- Fitness club environment
- Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
