Job Description

Within the context of a client/resident and family centred care model and in accordance with the Province of British Columbia Public Health Act-Pool Regulations, this position is responsible for the conduct and safety of all persons in or near the pool as well as leading pool programs in a safe and professional manner. Duties include checking pool area, monitoring the general operation and cleanliness of the pool facility, providing instruction in aquatic programs and adapted aquatic exercise, reporting observations of client’s/resident’s progress, organizing furnishings and equipment and maintaining an inventory of first aid and office equipment. Performs first aid as required and office tasks pertinent to the daily operation of the facility. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Graduation from Grade 12 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. National Lifeguard Pool Option Certificate. CPR-C Basic Rescuer Certificate, Standard First Aid Certificate or equivalent. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate or equivalent. Experience as an Aquafit Instructor is an asset. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to organize work.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Ability to operate related equipment.Ability to deal with others effectively.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
