Abound Health is seeking a caring, structured, and routine-oriented Host Family in or near Williamsport, Pennsylvania to support a 26-year-old man who is ready to grow his independence through Life Sharing. He currently lives with family, and while this is not an emergency placement, his team believes he will thrive with a non-relative who can offer consistent expectations, patient guidance, and a calm, supportive home environment.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals or families who value routine, enjoy community involvement, and are committed to helping someone build confidence and daily living skills through steady, relationship-based support.

About the Individual

He is a capable, friendly, and community-minded young adult who benefits from structure and predictable routines. At home, he may become argumentative when prompted by family members, but he responds well to clear expectations and consistent follow-through from non-relatives. He does best in environments where routines are steady, communication is calm, and household expectations are clear. Remaining close to Williamsport is important, as regular visits with his family are a positive and meaningful part of his life.

He would thrive with a Host Family who enjoys:

• Video games

• Music, especially local concerts and First Friday events

• Getting out into the community for walkable activities

• Learning new skills, including his goal of learning to play guitar

• Staying active and engaged through nearby outings, events, and hobbies

Life Sharing is a person-centered residential model where an individual becomes a fully integrated member of a family’s home and community. It focuses on long-term relationships, independence, and meaningful daily experiences within a natural home setting. As a Host Family, you provide not just a place to live — but a sense of belonging, stability, and purpose.

What You’ll Do as a Life Sharing Host Family

• Provide a safe, stable, and welcoming home

• Support daily living skills, routines, and healthy habits

• Offer mentorship, companionship, and emotional support

• Encourage community involvement and recreational activities

• Help him stay active through walkable, local outings

• Collaborate with Abound Health to follow person-centered plans

• Promote independence, dignity, and personal growth

Host Family Requirements

To qualify, families must:

• Be Pennsylvania residents (Williamsport area strongly preferred)

• Be at least 21 years old

• Pass required background checks (FBI, child abuse, criminal)

• Complete home inspections and meet safety standards

• Provide personal and professional references

• Participate in interviews and a matching assessment

• Be willing to include him in meals, routines, activities, and family life

Training Provided at No Cost

All Host Families receive:

• ODP-approved Life Sharing Orientation

• Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness

• Medication Administration (if applicable)

• Individual Rights & Person-Centered Planning

• Ongoing annual training (e.g., trauma-informed care, dignity & respect)

Additional Details

• Contract Position: Host Families are independent contractors

• Flexible Matching: We work closely with you to ensure compatibility

• Ongoing Support: 24/7 emergency assistance, respite options, and case management
