Job Description

Maryland Masonic Homes located in Cockeysville, Maryland has an immediate opening for a Part-time Activities Assistant. The ideal candidate will work Less than 30 hours a week working every other week-end.

Overview:

The Assistant works with the Director of Life Enrichment on designing and implementing recreational activities for MMH residents at all levels of care. The Assistant will be responsible to assist with planning, setting up and leading all therapeutic, spirituals, fitness and social activities offered to the residents at MMH 7 days a week. The Assistant will be responsible to assist the Director with facilitating on and off site activities and will make sure that the MMH residents are able to remain as independent as possible through enhancing self-esteem and celebration milestones for personal as well as group accomplishments. The Assistant will also be responsible to ensure that Life Enrichment areas and equipment are clean and safe for use.

Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:

  • Plans and implements the activities in accordance with the needs of each resident.
  • Assists in the planning of the monthly calendars.
  • Assists the Director of Life Enrichment where needed.
  • Assists with the preparation of the facility newsletter, calendars, fliers, resident information channel when needed.
  • Utilizes computer to create documents and flyers.
  • Participates in the overall plan of care of the residents.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in accordance with both the regulatory requirements and facility policy and procedure.
  • Assists and/or leads group programs and also provides 1:1 activities to those residents who prefer to keep to themselves.
  • Reports any changes in resident behavior, safety hazards, or procedural difficulties to the Director of Life Enrichment.
  • Assists with maintaining current organizational systems or special needs lists.
  • Attends and participates in all staff meetings and any other meetings which are deemed necessary by the Director of Life Enrichment.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment and supplies in a neat and safe manner.
  • Alerts Director of Life Enrichment when supplies are needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College Degree preferred
  • Min 1 year experience in organizing and leading social or recreational programs at a long-term care facility.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word Products is required
  • Ability to operate copier, fax machine and phone systems with multiple lines is required.

  • Must have clear, effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize workspace effectively and free of clutter. Must have good attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills are required.
  • Strong creativity and socialization skills are required.
  • Comfortable working with people, of all ages and backgrounds
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Must be pleasant, accommodating and attentive all the time.
  • Must be able to work weekends and Holidays

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs pounds or less
  • This position requires certain amount of sitting, walking, and standing to carry out the job duties.
  • Work may involve some exposure to operating circumstances that require following standard or prescribed safety precautions and wearing of PPE.
  • Potential exposure to biological hazards including infectious diseases and body fluids.

Hourly rate ($18.81 - $22.43) will be based on experience.
