Job Description

To coordinate and supervise shift operation of the hospital campus security personnel maintaining reasonable levels of service for benefit of hospital patients, visitors and staff. Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the training activities for the entity's Security department. Develops, delivers and evaluates course materials for the department. Maintains policies, procedures and appropriate training records. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Direct activities and subordinates on security shift to ensure effective functioning of the department. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and adhere to budgetary constraints.
• Responsible for written and verbal reports of assigned shift to ensure accurate and complete communication.
• Collaborate with and assist Director and Manager to provide continuity of service to Medical Center.
• Responsible for maintaining reasonable levels of safety and security for Medical Center patients, visitors, staff and others during assigned shift.
• Maintain annual certifications.
• Develops, delivers and evaluates various basic and advanced training courses for members of the department.
• Plans, directs and coordinates training projects, certification processes and programs.
• Conducts studies to develop new or revised training needs.
• Provides guidance, consultation and assistance in training and employee development. Establishes and maintains timelines and future scheduling of training opportunities.
• Coordinates and maintains all records for certification and/or re-certifications as required.
• Investigates all security incidents related to Taser use, etc. as necessary. Ensures video and any pertinent information is collected and documented.
• Duties will include post/backup duties when not actively involved with training.
• Maintains supplies and inventory including but not limited to uniforms.
• Completes duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Experience

6 years Legal - Law Enforcement Required or 6 years Security Required and 4 years General-Supervisor Required.

Minimum Required Education

High School Diploma Required. Completion Law Enforcement Course Required. Completion Criminal Justice Required, or Completion Private Security Curriculum Required.

Minimum Required Special Skills

Must be in good physical condition, able to drive motorized vehicle with manual transmission and to operate 2-wheel vehicle.

Minimum Required Licensure

License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Driver's License Required. License Eligible for Weapons Permit and Must Maintain During Employment Required. Eligible for A Surety Bond and Must Maintain During Employment Required. OC or Pepper Spray Certification Required, or Willingness to Obtain Required.

Preferred/Desired Licensure

Class D Commercial License Preferred. Taser Certification preferred.
