Job Description

The Engineering Operations & Excellence Leader is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and execution discipline across the Engineering organization.
This role partners closely with Engineering leaders, Finance, Project Management, Sourcing, and external service providers to establish effective operating mechanisms, manage budgets and resources, improve business performance, and drive Lean transformation across the organization.
The successful candidate will establish robust processes, operating rhythms, performance metrics, and governance mechanisms while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, customer focus, and One Team collaboration. This role will play a key part in developing a High-Performing Team capable of delivering operational excellence and strong financial outcomes in a global matrix environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering leadership, Finance, Project Management, and regional stakeholders to drive operational excellence and financial performance.
  • Establish and maintain operating rhythms, governance routines, dashboards, KPIs, and visual management systems to monitor execution, resource utilization, project performance, and business outcomes.
  • Manage Engineering budgets, labor hours, forecasts, invoices, accruals, and cost tracking, ensuring alignment between planned and actual performance.
  • Partner closely with Finance to support forecasting, financial reporting, budget pacing, and informed business decision-making.
  • Monitor project financial performance and proactively identify risks, trends, and opportunities to improve operational and financial results.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers, ensuring effective collaboration, scope alignment, invoice processing, and payment follow-up.
  • Support scope management activities across regions and functions, ensuring alignment between customer commitments, project execution, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate and facilitate project kickoffs, handovers, and transitions between teams to ensure seamless execution and clear ownership.
  • Prepare and communicate periodic operational, financial, and project performance reports for leadership teams and customers as required.
  • Lead Lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, quality, simplification, and cycle-time reduction.
  • Establish a culture of accountability and performance measurement through clear deliverables, operating reviews, and performance metrics.
  • Drive alignment across Engineering, Finance, Project Management, and Regional Leadership teams to ensure consistent execution, transparency, and operational rigor.
  • Foster collaboration across functions, regions, and cultures while promoting a strong One Team mindset.
  • Challenge the status quo by identifying opportunities to eliminate waste, simplify processes, improve efficiency, and enhance customer outcomes.
  • Support the development of a High-Performing Team through effective operating mechanisms, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and performance visibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering Operations, Program Management, Business Operations, Project Controls, Finance, or related operational leadership roles.
  • Experience managing budgets, project financials, labor forecasting, resource planning, and performance metrics.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) with the ability to effectively collaborate across global teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within large, global matrix organizations and drive alignment across multiple functions, regions, and stakeholders.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in the Power, Energy, Industrial, or Infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, cost control, financial reporting, and operational planning processes.
  • Proven Lean practitioner with experience implementing Lean operating systems, visual management, daily management, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive results without direct authority.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and changing business needs.
  • Experience managing external suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Self-driven learner with strong data literacy and proficiency in modern business and collaboration tools.
