- Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints, and Drug

- Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
- Total Compensation: $30.68 per hour.
- Benefits Offered: Health/Dental and Vision.
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, which starts accruing on the day of hire.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, which starts accruing on the day of hire.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (12) Paid Federal Holidays.
Summary of Services
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will assist in providing 24/7 services necessary to perform on-site Hudson Valley New Nursing (HV) & Nursing Support Staff for eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Hudson Valley Health Care System. The Licensed Vocational Nurse's staff support care shall cover the range of HV New Nursing & Nursing Support Staff services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art health care medical treatment facility, and the standard of care shall be of a quality meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by the Hudson Valley.
Working Hours
The Licensed Vocational Nurse will work as follows: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM, including Federal Holidays. The contracted Licensed Vocational Nurse is expected to arrive punctually. The Licensed Vocational Nurse will not work more than 40 hours per week, unless authorized by both the company and the government.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing School/Program.
- Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice professional nursing in the state of New York, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
- Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a professional nurse in the state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare, administer, and accurately document commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications, in accordance with approved local facility policies and procedures.
- Observation and documentation will include the patient's response to administered medications and any observed changes in the patient's condition, which must be reported to the Registered Nurse or physician.
- Demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as part of the nursing team and interact professionally with patients, family members, and other healthcare personnel involved in patient care, while adhering to established customer service standards.
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home Care Unit and Psychiatric patients.
- Perform procedures approved for Medical Center staff as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act and Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards.
- Demonstrates increasing autonomy in patient care management and possesses competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical, and geriatric patients.
- Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Licensed Vocational Nurse will collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed across various units, including ambulatory care, critical care, nursing home, and the Emergency Room throughout the Montrose and Castle Point VA Medical Centers.
