Position Details

Role: Licensed Veterinary Technician

Status: Full-time

Salary: $20 - $28 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8 am - 6 pm, with no weekends!

Experience: At least two years of veterinary technician experience preferred

Primary Pet Care is looking for a skilled, confident, and fun Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our small-but-mighty team!

We’re a one-doctor practice with a close-knit staff that works hard, laughs often, and takes a lot of pride in providing excellent care to our clients and patients. We offer wellness and sick visits, routine surgery, technician appointments, and urgent care hours twice a week—which means there’s plenty of variety to keep things interesting.

And yes, we’re closed on weekends. Because work-life balance should include having your weekends back!

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

• Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care to patients
• Assist with wellness, sick, and urgent care appointments
• Perform technician appointments and communicate clearly with clients
• Obtain patient histories and communicate relevant information to the veterinarian
• Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate, low-stress techniques
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and laboratory procedures
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Perform and assist with digital radiographs
• Assist with dental procedures and dental radiography
• Support surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery
• Utilize in-house laboratory equipment and assist with diagnostic testing
• Assist with FAST scan ultrasound procedures as appropriate
• Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients and communicate changes or concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
• Educate clients about medications, preventive care, treatments, and their pet’s ongoing healthcare needs
• Keep treatment areas, exam rooms, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, and ready for whatever the day brings
• Work closely with the veterinarian and your teammates to keep patient care and hospital flow running smoothly

What You’ll Bring

• Current veterinary technician licensure
• At least two years of veterinary technician experience preferred
• Confidence in your technical and patient care skills
• Strong venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory, and patient-handling skills
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical patient care
• Strong client education and communication skills
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy veterinary environment without sacrificing patient care
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• A collaborative, team-first attitude
• The confidence to work independently while knowing when to ask for help
• A genuine passion for veterinary medicine and excellent patient care
• A sense of humor—we work hard around here, but we definitely don’t believe that means we can’t have fun doing it
