Job Description

At Inwood Animal Clinic, we specialize in quality veterinary care for pets of all ages. We are available to address any potential issues, so our patients will enjoy a lifetime of great health! Our goal is to deliver top-quality care for every animal that walks through our doors. We've been serving New York City since 2008. we're conveniently located on Broadway between Academy Street and 204th Street.

We are looking to add a Licensed Veterinary Technician to our Surgery Team! This position will be heavily focused on assisting with surgeries and inducing and monitoring anesthesia. If surgery is your jam, apply today!

Our hours of operation are:

  • Monday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Thursday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Sunday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

This position is heavily focused on surgical assisting and anesthesia monitoring. We are looking for someone who is proficient and confident in both areas.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 2+ year professional experience required
    • A VTS in Anesthesia and Analgesia or a Surgical VTS would be preferred, but is not required
  • Experience and proficiency in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some weekends
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish heavily preferred, but not required
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Additional Information

Pay Range: Starting between $24 - $30/hr, negotiable depending on experience level.
