
Provides individual, group, family counseling, case management, and psychoeducation services for specific patient programs under the direction of the department supervisor, in an outpatient treatment setting. Participates in providing counseling and program treatment to patients who have a variety of mental health disorders. Maintains individual and group counseling documentation to support comprehensive treatment, discharge and transition planning, and utilization review to insure accurate and timely reimbursement of services. Helps orient patients and their families to the treatment program and encourages their active participation. Provides direct treatment that is therapeutically effective and promotes patient safety and welfare. Conducts treatment in a manner that is consistent with the written philosophy and objectives of the John Muir Behavioral Health Center and John Muir Health. Communicates information effectively with supervisor and other team members to promote an environment conducive to quality and safe care, cooperation, and team cohesion. Coordinates discharge of patients to the next appropriate level of care.
- Licensed Therapists assigned to the Adult Outpatient Services unit work primarily with adults, ages 18 and older, with one or more mental health or substance use disorder diagnoses, which may include co-occurring disorders. Please see 'Required Experience' section below.
- Licensed Therapists assigned to the Adolescent Outpatient Program unit primarily work with adolescents, ages 12-18, with one or more mental or behavioral health diagnoses. Please see 'Required Experience' section below.
Education:
Master's Degree - Marriage and Family Therapy - Required with Licensure or
Master's Degree - Social Work - Required with Licensure or
Master's Degree - Counseling - Required with Licensure or
Master's Degree - Psychology - Required with Licensure or
Doctorate Degree - Psychology - Required with Licensure
Experience:
2 years Behavioral Health - Licensed Therapist - Individual, Group, and Family Therapy - Preferred and/or
2 years Related Experience - If hired after 12/9/13
Additional Experience Requirements:
For Adult Outpatient Services unit – prior experience in a Behavioral Health or Mental Health treatment setting, providing group therapy and psychoeducation services. - Preferred
For Addiction Medicine Services unit – prior experience in a primary Substance Use Disorder/Addiction Medicine treatment setting, providing group therapy and psychoeducation services, and familiarity with mutual self-help programs, including the 12-step model.- Preferred
For Adolescent Outpatient Program unit – prior experience working with adolescents in a Behavioral Health or Mental Health setting, providing group therapy and psychoeducation services. - Preferred
Certifications/Licensures:
LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - California Board of Behavioral Sciences - R equired and/or
LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker - California Board of Behavioral Sciences - Required and/or
LPCC Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - BBS CA Board of Behavioral Sciences - Required and/or
Psychologist - California Board of Psychology - Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training - John Muir Health - Required within 60 days of assuming position with renewal every 24 months or within30 daysof return from a leave of absence
