The 82d Medical Group, Sheppard AFB, TX, provides healthcare services to an estimated 19.5K Government beneficiaries and has a requirement for a high-quality Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to provide services supporting patients at the military Medical Treatment Facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
oInitiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations
oComplete assigned patient care based on the patients’ conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information
oObserve, identify and respond to the patient’s needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education
oPrepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures
oRecognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed
oPerform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient’s condition before, during, and following the procedure
oOrient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice
oIntegrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction
oThis position may require periodic duty and location changes within the Medical Clinic
oOther duties as identified in the Performance Work Statement and/or assigned by Advancia Aeronautics executive management
Education & Experience Requirements
oDegree:Certificate
oEducation:Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
oExperience: One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.
oLicensure:Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.
oProficient with technology, Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Office’s Suite of products; ability to type minimum 40 WPM
oMust be able to speak, read, and write in English to effectively communicate
oShall have current certification American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course (Web-based classes do not meet this requirement)
