The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to medically fragile children in the Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The LPN assists with treatments, medications, and care routines, ensuring patient safety, accurate documentation, and compliance with Florida PPEC regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide hands-on pediatric nursing care under RN supervision.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient response.
• Observe, record, and report changes in patient condition promptly.
• Maintain compliance with infection control, emergency response, and safety protocols.
• Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuous education.
• Support the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Active Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Pediatric or PPEC experience preferred.
• Background check and TB screening required.
• Ability to work effectively under RN supervision and within scope of practice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to bend, lift, kneel, and assist in patient positioning and emergency response.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Visual and auditory acuity to monitor children and medical equipment.
• Manual dexterity to perform nursing tasks safely.
COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
This role follows Florida PPEC regulations (59A‑13, F.A.C.) and requires the employee to maintain licensure, CPR certification, and annual competencies. The LPN must adhere to infection control standards, pediatric safety practices, and emergency response protocols while ensuring accurate documentation of care.
