
Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Behavioral Health
Full Time 1st Shift
The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is a secured, therapeutic inpatient setting that provides short-term, intensive psychiatric care to patients experiencing acute mental health crises. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, therapists, and behavioral health technicians, who collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans.
Under the direct supervision of a behavioral health (BH) registered nurse (RN), the licensed practical nurse (LPN), within scope of the LPN practice and regulatory standards, assists the RN in providing and coordinating holistic care of the patient through honoring patients’ mind, body and spirit while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual. LPN clinical proficiency is based on a sound knowledge base together with the understanding of the theories and science of practical nursing practice. The LPN must have the ability to delegate appropriate work to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) while taking responsibility for the work delegated.
The LPN has knowledge, nurse training and skill sets specific to populations of people with mental health and substance use diagnoses.
