
Alleghany Highlands Community Services (AHCS) is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join the nursing team at our Crisis Receiving Center (CRC). This is an opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team providing timely, compassionate care to individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use crises.
The CRC operates 24 hours a day and provides a supportive, therapeutic alternative for individuals who need assessment, stabilization, monitoring, and connection to appropriate ongoing care.
As an LPN in the CRC, you will provide direct nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Supervisor/Registered Nurse and work closely with prescribers, crisis clinicians, peers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

The Crisis Receiving Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Positions may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts based on the assigned schedule and program needs.

AHCS operates multiple service sites throughout the Alleghany Highlands, with over 150 employees working to support our services. We are proud to have served our community for 37 years. AHCSB is accountable to and licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) for the quality of care and fiscal accountability of the programs under its jurisdiction.
AHCS is governed by a nine-person all-volunteer board appointed with members from each jurisdiction by local governing bodies – Alleghany County, Clifton Forge and the City of Covington. The Board members are people from the community with various occupations and interests who serve three-year terms of office.
