Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works closely with other Health Care Professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. This position is responsible for triaging all Medication and Nurse calls appropriately.

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma required

· LPN license required

· BLS /ACLS

· 2 years of experience in the Medical Field, especially Orthopaedics.

· Casting and Splinting experience preferred

· Proficiency in the use of Electronic Medical Records/Computers

· Registered Nurse license preferred

Key Responsibilities:

· Review daily schedule and prepare clinic area as needed

· Prepare exam rooms: select, setup, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.

· Receives and greets patients

· Coordinate patient care through the clinic-waiting room, exam room, x-ray, procedure room and check out.

· Perform History of Present illness of patient

· Maintain EMR records, updates and reviews as necessary.

· Assist Physician with EMR requirements

· Place standing orders

· Measure vital signs (i.e. Ht, Wt, B/P, Pulse and respiration) as standing orders require.

· Simple Wound Care

· Removal of sutures or staples

· Casting/splinting as required

· Prepares procedure equipment accordingly.

· Orders Physical/Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Tests, Medications and follow-up appointments.

· Clean and sterilize materials and instruments following universal precautions.

· Maintain Universal Precautions and Biomedical Waste Protocol.

· Participate in Staff meetings as requested.

· Monitor inventory of all medical supplies.

· Ability to maintain HIPAA Compliance

· Ability to collaborate with other multi-disciplinary team members.

· Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple skills.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Following appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.

· Assists with Emergency Situations within the clinic setting.

· Ability to assist with Nurse Office Visits.

· Maintains Infection control measures

· Maintain Logs required by the State of Florida.

· Assists clinic staff as needed.

· All other duties as assigned
