As aLicensedPhysical Therapy Assistant, you will apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations,impairmentsand disorders, working in conjunction with a Physical Therapist.This opportunity will allow you tohave access to Special Interest Groups (SIGs), the ability toinitiateprocess improvement projects, join differentcommitteesand take leadership classes of interest.Come bea part of a team where your work truly has an impact on each and every patient you work with.

A caregiver in this position worksvarying 8-hour shifts, averaging 24 hours per week dependent on business needs.Working4 weekend days per 8-week schedule period, 1 premium holiday and 2 non-premium holidaysarerequired

This caregiver will float between Martin North, MartinSouthand Tradition Hospitals.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Implement patient treatment following evaluations by a Physical Therapist with a thorough understanding of the procedures and goals.

  • Discusspossible changesin the treatment approach with the supervising therapist andassistin the preparation of a new program.

  • Assume responsibility for the care,safetyand well-being of patients during assigned acts andobserveall necessary precautions and procedures in the use of equipment to prevent the delay of the healing process or to avoid injuring patients.

  • Provideappropriate documentationof eachpatientvisitin accordance withdepartmental policy and procedures.

  • Maintain and care for all equipment and apparatus.

  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the department and ensure economical use of supplies,linensand utilities.

  • Provideappropriate billingfor each patient visitin accordance withdepartmental policy and procedures.

  • Assistin the on-the-job training of ancillary personnel.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate’sDegreefrom an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assisting

  • Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)licensein the state of Florida

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)CertificationthroughtheAmerican Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

  • Internship experience

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in an acute care setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

  • Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS OF POSITION: The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas.

  • The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.

  • This position requires reasoning, mathematical and English language skills. Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests. Ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively.

  • Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities. Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
