The Licensed Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting pharmacy operations through accurate prescription processing, claims resolution, and customer service activities. This role ensures prescription information is entered accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality, compliance, and performance standards. The Licensed Pharmacy Technician works closely with patients, prescribers, insurance providers, and internal teams to resolve issues, obtain necessary information, and support a seamless medication fulfillment process.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Prescription Processing & Data Entry
- Interpret prescription orders and enter prescription information accurately and timely.
- Review prescriptions for completeness and identify missing or unclear information requiring further clarification.
- Utilize sound judgment and reasoning skills to make processing determinations based on company policies, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain quality and accuracy standards while managing production goals and deadlines.
Patient, Provider & Insurance Communication
- Place outbound calls to patients, prescribers, and insurance providers to obtain clarification or additional information regarding prescription orders, when applicable.
- Communicate professionally with patients regarding prescription-related concerns, incident follow-up, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance representatives to facilitate prescription processing and patient access to medications.
- Maintain a high level of customer service while handling sensitive patient information.
Claims Resolution & Operational Support
- Research and resolve insurance claim rejections to facilitate prescription fulfillment.
- Investigate processing issues and determine appropriate resolutions based on payer requirements and pharmacy guidelines.
- Support secondary billing processes, including prescription discount programs and Medicaid-related claims, when applicable.
- Monitor and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to service level expectations.
Compliance & Team Collaboration
- Maintain confidentiality of patient, client, and company information in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Work collaboratively with peers and cross-functional teams to support departmental objectives.
- Follow established workflows, procedures, and operational guidelines while working under general supervision.

Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with the applicable home State Board of Pharmacy and the Michigan Board of Pharmacy.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
- Experience or knowledge of pharmacy claims adjudication processes preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of secondary billing practices, including prescription discount cards and Medicaid, preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and pharmacy-related software applications.
Preferred Skills / Abilities
- Prior experience within Retail Pharmacy, Mail Order Pharmacy, Specialty Pharmacy, PBM, Pharmaceutical, or Managed Healthcare environments.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, insurance billing processes, and medication fulfillment workflows.
- Experience supporting high-volume pharmacy or healthcare service operations.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and industry best practices.
Work Environment
- Hybrid home/office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse working conditions.
- May require occasional local and/or overnight travel, including travel by automobile or air transportation.
