To provide direct occupational therapy services for students with special education needs and coordinate individual programs with students, staff, administrators and parents.
-Evaluate and assess students referred for special education eligibility determination.
-Develop and implement effective programs of intervention for students with special education needs.
-Develop IEP goals, benchmarks and assessment methods to monitor a student's progress in the education area identified requiring intervention.
-Work collaboratively with all building liaisons, principals and teachers to determine eligibility, need for level, and /or continuation of occupational therapy service.
-Carefully monitor student progress toward achievement of goals, and effectively communicate to the TEAM termination of services where appropriate.
-Develop programs for efficiently delivering occupational therapy services and managing available resources.
-Keep thorough and confidential records for the individual students receiving occupational therapy.
-Consult with parents classroom teachers, and other staff as needed.
-Participate at team meetings where students have been recommended for or are currently receiving occupational therapy services. Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants(s)
-Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools designee.
-Hold appropriate license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Health Professionals as an Occupational Therapist.
-A Master's Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy or related field.
-Experience in delivering occupational therapy services in the public school setting.
-Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, school –level involvement and/or system – wide professional activities and the interview process.
