About This Role

SpartanX is actively expanding throughout Eastern and Southeastern Iowa and is seeking a Licensed Journeyman Electrician to support residential solar installation and electrical operations.

This role is ideal for a licensed electrician who takes pride in clean workmanship, safety, efficiency, and professionalism. Candidates must be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting electrical systems, and ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with NEC and local code requirements.

Current project volume is concentrated throughout Eastern and Southeastern Iowa.

What You’ll Do

• Install, wire, troubleshoot, and commission residential solar PV systems
• Perform electrical work for roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar systems
• Interpret electrical drawings, site plans, blueprints, and system schematics
• Ensure all electrical work meets NEC standards and local AHJ requirements
• Troubleshoot system performance issues, inverter faults, and electrical deficiencies
• Perform testing and verification of system functionality and safety
• Lead and support installation crews onsite when required
• Maintain organized documentation, photos, and completion records
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, inspectors, and internal operations teams
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Travel Expectations

• Candidates outside Iowa must be willing to travel and work in Iowa for up to two weeks at a time
• Overnight travel may be required based on project location

License Requirements

• Valid Iowa Journeyman Electrician license required
• Reciprocal licenses accepted from approved states including Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and others eligible for Iowa reciprocity

What We’re Looking For

• Active Journeyman Electrician license required
• Minimum 2 years of solar PV electrical experience preferred
• Strong understanding of residential electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in the field
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and in outdoor environments
• Professional communication and customer interaction skills
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment safely throughout the workday

Preferred Qualifications

• NABCEP certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Battery storage experience

• $1500 sign-on bonus (paid after 90 days, subject to applicable taxes) for local residents
