Job Description

Responsible for developing, maintaining, validating, and protecting examination materials used to evaluate licensed operator knowledge, skills, and behaviors. This role supports initial and continuing licensed operator training by creating high-quality written exams, simulator scenarios, JPMs, and evaluation tools that align with station procedures, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and fleet training expectations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create written exam questions, simulator scenarios, JPMs, and evaluation guides for licensed operator initial and/or continuing training.
  • Ensure exam materials are technically accurate, procedure-based, and aligned with approved learning objectives and training standards.
  • Develop simulator scenario guides that include normal operations, malfunctions, transients, AOP/EOP use, emergency plan classifications, and expected operator actions.
  • Interacting professionally with other station departments and outside agencies to ensure quality training is provided.
  • Obtain and maintain a Senior Reactor Operator Certification.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
  • Support validation of written exams, JPMs, and simulator scenarios using station/fleet processes.
  • Maintain strict control of exam materials, simulator scenarios, answer keys, evaluation standards, notes, and related documentation.
  • Assist with exam setup, conduct, simulator readiness, evaluator preparation, and post-exam critique activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Operations or Operations Training in the nuclear industry is required.
  • Westinghouse PWR experience strongly preferred.
  • Holding or having previously held a RO or SRO license or certification preferred.
  • Experience in licensed operator initial training, continuing training, simulator instruction, or exam development preferred.
  • Knowledge of licensed operator examination standards, simulator-based evaluation practices, and training program requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to write clear, valid, and technically accurate exam questions, JPMs, simulator scenarios, and evaluation standards is preferred.
