SUMMARY: Performs skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair and renovation of school buildings and facilities, including therein all electrical fixtures and performs general maintenance work as needed.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Connecticut Motor Vehicle License - Class II license desirable.
State Electrical License - E2 Journeyman License required.
Extensive work background in fire alarm installation and troubleshooting. Experience in installation and repair of emergency lighting and generating systems.
Completion of an approved apprentice program desirable.
Three (3) years of experience at the journeyman level desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKlLLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with l Os and l 00s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American
money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements
and Board of Education Policies. Working knowledge of public building and structural design. Knowledge of building code conformance.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally, the employee will lift heavier items and should do so
with assistance. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
