Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)

At Clearfork Academy, we provide high-quality substance abuse and mental health treatment for adolescents and young adults across a full continuum of care. We are looking for a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) who is compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing ethical, consistent, and professional care.

What You'll Do

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling for clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions
• Provide professional and ethical addiction and mental health services within the scope of your LCDC license
• Facilitate psychoeducational, process, and recovery-focused groups
• Lead recovery groups incorporating concepts from AA, NA, and CR
• Provide education on substance use, recovery, relapse prevention, and healthy decision-making
• Conduct assessments, consultations, and appropriate crisis interventions
• Follow Clearfork Academy's clinical programming, including The Clearfork Way
• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and collaborate with medical, administrative, billing, and recovery staff
• Maintain accurate, objective, and timely documentation in the EHR
• Complete progress notes, case notes, treatment documentation, discharge reports, and other required clinical records
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable state and federal regulations
• Participate in alumni events, graduation ceremonies, and experiential activities as needed
• Present ideas for improving behavioral health services and clinical protocols
• Stay current on substance use treatment practices, regulations, and evidence-based interventions
• Complete required agency training and continuing education
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) credential as defined by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
• Associate degree in a related field preferred
• 1–3 years of experience in mental health, substance use treatment, or a related field preferred
• Current CPR/First Aid certification
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention
• Understanding of behavioral health treatment and evidence-based interventions
• Knowledge of social learning theory and behavior management principles
• Understanding of adolescent and young adult development
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision after appropriate training
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard computer systems
• Ability to maintain composure in stressful or potentially volatile situations
• Strong commitment to ethics, professionalism, diversity, and continuing education

About the Environment

Clearfork Academy serves adolescents and young adults with substance use disorders, with or without co-occurring psychiatric conditions, across residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care.

This position requires someone who can maintain professionalism, focus, and accuracy in a fast-paced treatment environment. The role may involve extended periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.

Employees may have contact with water, body fluids, and hazardous chemicals and must follow OSHA standards and universal precautions at all times.
