Job Summary

A License & Compliance Coordinator supports permitting, compliance, and coordination of tasks related to federal, state, and local regulatory compliance at multiple hydroelectric projects. This role involves interpreting regulatory requirements, conducting field inspections, and filing correspondence with and communicating with other positions inside the company, various regulatory and stakeholder groups, and the public.

What you’ll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

• Assist with review, process, and interpretation of communication with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Assist with ensuring proposed activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including project-specific management plans and license requirements.
• Learn to interpret and apply environmental regulatory requirements such as those including, but not limited to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state environmental agencies, local governments, etc.
• Assist with maintaining records and documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable project license requirements.
• Assist with conducting on-site inspections of property within project boundaries to assess compliance.
• Assist with routine monitoring and documenting findings.
• Assist with coordinating contractors on compliance-related projects required by a project’s FERC license, or other compliance requirements from other governing agencies.
• Assist subject matter expert and primary point of contact for FERC compliance-related inquiries from federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Participate in meetings with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community stakeholders.
• Participate in public outreach, educational sessions, and stakeholder meetings to promote awareness and understanding of compliance related activities.
• Assist with coordination with other staff to monitor, update, and complete Cority/Enviance tasks and upload documentation to SharePoint to track/manage all of our compliance requirements and communication with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community stakeholders.

What we’re looking for:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Geography, Planning, or a related field is required.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, land use planning, or related field is preferred.
• Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required.

• Ability to work independently in the field and in a team environment. Ability to work in the field or in an office environment. Fieldwork may involve walking uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor conditions, and occasional use of boats.
• Comfort engaging with the public and presenting information in meetings.
• Ability and willingness to travel to field locations as needed for day trips. Travel time will average less than 10%.
• Ability and willingness to travel for overnight trips, as needed. Travel time will average less than 10%.
• Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours for public meetings, stakeholder engagement, or site inspections.
• Detail-oriented regarding compliance activities, documentation, and communication.

Compensation Range:

$63,496.00 - $79,369.00

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
