Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Base Salary Range: $92,000 – $101,000 plus benefits

FTE Full-Time - Exempt

General Summary: Provide social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families and to maximize the family well-being and the academic functioning of children. The ideal candidate will have to perform some of the following essential duties.

  • Counsels individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, or medical care
  • Interviews clients individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems to determine what services are required to meet their needs.
  • Serves as liaisons between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts to help children who face problems, such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty.
  • Maintains case history records and prepares reports.
  • Counsels parents with child rearing problems, interviewing the child and family to determine whether further action is required.
  • Provides skill training, patient education, and develop specific behavioral change plans with patients and evaluates patient care plans with primary care team
  • Assists primary health care providers in recognizing and treating mental disorders and psychosocial problems
  • Assesses the clinical status of patients referred by the primary care provider
  • Assists in the detection of “at risk” patients and prevents further psychological or physical deterioration
  • Consults medical director and staff clinicians as necessary and refers cases to specialty providers as appropriate
  • Maintains productivity based on established standards as discussed with supervisor
  • Accurately records patient history, exam notes, medication history, on-going care and referrals in medical record, according to standard format
  • Supervises and trains MSWs & ACSW’s
  • Attends and participate in provider, staff and Quality Assurance activities as required
  • Assesses staff sensitivity and competency with behavioral health issues or in dealing with behavioral health related emergencies (domestic violence victims, suicide attempts, etc.)
  • Notifies and is accessible to supervisor when offsite during normal business hours
  • Attendance and punctuality is essential in order to provide quality of care to patients, face-to-face interaction with patients, and to work with provided healthcare equipment collected at clinics

Qualifications Licensure and Certifications:

  • MA Degree in Social Work or Psychology from an accredited University or College.
  • Current licensure by the State of California Behavioral Science Examiners Board as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience:

  • Must have minimum 3 years of independent counseling experience.
  • Must be able to work independently within scope of assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of MediCal, MediCare and private insurance, rules & regulations pertaining to mental health services
  • Familiarity with Protective Agency reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with resources that receive and care for patients.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bi-lingual/bi-literate English/Spanish preferred
  • Background/training in crisis work or solution focused therapy, brief focus interventions, or other time limited therapy preferred.

About South Central Family Health Center

For 40 years, South Central Family Health Center (SCFHC) has played a major role in filling the void for comprehensive health services in the historically underserved and uninsured population of South Los Angeles. The services provided directly address healthcare issues prevalent among geographically and economically disadvantaged individuals and families.

Since its inception, SCFHC has been in the forefront committed to addressing healthcare disparities in a competent and linguistically appropriate manner. SCFHC has more than 230 staff members of which 30 are clinicians who provide the direct medical services, treatment and care to patients.

In 2002, SCFHC was designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) 330 Clinic. Such qualifications require adhering to strict Government standards of providing quality comprehensive service delivery and detailed reporting directly to the Federal Government.

We have expanded service locations to the city of Huntington Park, Cudahy and opened a school based health centers at Jefferson High School (L.A.) and at the Elizabeth Learning Center (Cudahy) as well as improved our clinics to better serve our patients’ needs.
