We’re looking for a Licencing Support Advisor to join our Business Support Services team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

In this role, we’ll look to you to support with alcohol licencing and legislation requirements. You’ll carry out administrative tasks, including managing invoices on behalf of our food retail stores, completing online applications and processing and updating large volumes of paperwork and maintaining accurate data records. We want you to thrive here, and you’ll receive full training plus the opportunity to obtain a personal alcohol licence.

Why this role matters

As a Licencing Support Advisor, you’ll help protect our business, support our colleagues, and enable our stores to trade compliantly and responsibly. Your work will help make sure we’re meeting our legal obligations while continuing to serve our customers and members in the right way.

What you’ll do

  • Support our Licencing Practitioners with administrative tasks (e.g., managing paperwork, processing payments, assisting with applications)
  • Make sure we’re maintaining data integrity and adhering to GDPR best practices
  • Take part in larger transformation projects from a licencing perspective
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across the wider business (e.g., Legal, Finance, Food Operations, Property)
  • Support our food store colleagues with advice relating to legal trade of licenced goods
  • Manage relationships with external local authorities and legal suppliers to resolve licencing requests and queries

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy, with the ability to keep critical records up-to-date and compliant
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to work with large volumes of data
  • Good IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office), with the ability to learn and pick up new systems

Why Co-op?

We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

  • Annual bonus scheme (based on individual and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
  • Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
  • 24/7 colleague support service
  • Training and support for your development and career progression
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
