
Hiring Range: $40,996.80 - $45,198.40The Library Specialist is a paraprofessional position that provides library services and operational support within an assigned area. Specialists may be assigned to any division of the library. Divisions of the library include Public Services, Youth Services, Technology & Marketing, Community Services, Materials Management, Arts and Administration.

Associates Degree with One (1) year of Library Experience

Bachelor's Degree or higher
Provides a high degree of customer service; provides knowledgeable, responsive, and welcoming assistance to patrons; ensures all work, whether public-facing or behind the scenes, supports a positive customer experience; Provides direct service to the public, including reference, reader’s advisory, circulation, and technology assistance; supports or delivers programs, outreach, and other library services to either adults or children, depending on assigned division; Library Specialists assigned to Youth Services may require storytelling; assists with some collection management and other specialized functions, such as passport services; performs technical and operational duties within the assigned area; assists with problem-solving and responds appropriately to customer needs; performs other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Library Specialists work independently within established policies and procedures and are expected to exercise judgment and initiative. Specialists may provide operational leadership within their assigned area when a Librarian or Manager is unavailable.
