Schedule:

Rotating schedule: Including 1-2 evenings per week and regular weekend rotations with Saturday and Sunday full-day shifts.

Position Summary:

The Library Program Coordinator – Facilities is responsible for supporting key service areas at Main Library, including special exhibits and large-scale programs, private event rentals and customer service support throughout the building. The Library Program Coordinator acts as a liaison for Main Library vendors and partners, including the cafe operator, security and janitorial service providers, and the Library’s contracted events rental manager. This position works collaboratively with partners at ImaginOn and the Theaters at Spirit Square to deliver quality customer experiences across all venues. The Library Program Coordinator serves as a Manager-on-Duty for Main Library; experience with cash handling, event management and facility operations preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and ensure the success of the program on a day-to-day basis, managing the various parts of the program, and making necessary logistical and tactical decisions to shape successful outcomes.
  • Set milestones and drive the program toward metrics of success.
  • Serve as the program’s primary community interface, drawing on the connections and networks of key partners.
  • Schedule and coordinate public engagements, events, and programs.
  • Build coalitions and support for the program among diverse audiences and communities, while earning, establishing, and building trust within the communities served.
  • Identify potential project partners and build relationships and trust with partners/participants and community groups; simultaneously create authentic community benefit through listening deeply and being adaptable and responsive to community needs.
  • Oversee program budget to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Produce interim and final reports and program evaluations as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience managing complex programs, particularly coordinating large-scale community programs with multiple stakeholders; strong communication skills with a special focus on public speaking; experience managing nonprofit and/or grant budgets and strong technology skills, including basic software, social media, and public presentation and engagement tools.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years working with event management, vendor relationships and/or community partnerships
  • Connection to and knowledge of Charlotte communities
  • Experience in library work, event management, community engagement, or a related field
  • Ability to work and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion within service delivery
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Bilingual/Spanish fluency a plus

Computer Skills:

Excellent command of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with sound and video recording and editing software a plus

Work Environment:

Works in a public library setting with moderate noise
