Range Explanation:

The Library Page shelves and files library materials in alphabetical, numerical or alphanumerical order. Re-shelves misplaced books and performs other related tasks.

Essential Functions:

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.   • Sorts, shelves and files various library materials accurately according to library classification systems, (e.g., alphabetic, numeric and alphanumeric);

  • Maintains accuracy of library materials on shelves and re-shelves misplaced items;

  • Packs and unpacks boxes of books and other library materials;

  • Locates and retrieves library materials from all areas for staff or patrons;

  • Performs routine clerical tasks, sorts and distributes mail, checks inventory, and provides support with library events;

  • Answers telephones, refers calls and takes messages for staff;

  • Provides directional assistance/information to customers;

  • Assists patrons loading and unloading donated books;

  • Maintains appearance of work area and public areas, including cleaning materials and bookshelves;

  • Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment such as public access computers, printers and copiers;

  • Ensures compliance with County protocols, policies and procedures relative to area of assignment;

  • Assists patrons with accessing, closing, and changing web pages;

  • Screens and refers research needs by matching customers with a reference specialist;

  • Assists customers in signing up or schedules for computer access;

  • Performs basic computer operation instruction for customers including using the mouse, downloading data/information, and saving and printing files;

  • Assists customers with accessing the Internet and email accounts;

  • Answers general questions about computer software (e.g., Word, and Excel) usage, such as loading and opening a file, changing the font, and adjusting formatting;

  • Assists in other technological support patrons may need;

  • May assist in backroom check-in of library materials and processing of reserves;

  • Operates a variety of office equipment relative to the library assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of skills, education or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties and responsibilities identified in the classification.

Preferred Qualifications (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

  • Minimum one (1) year experience using Google (Docs, Sheets) and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).

  • Minimum one (1) year volunteering or working in a library setting.

  • Minimum one (1) year customer service experience.

Selection Procedure
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources.Additionalassessments/testing may berequiredas part of the selection process

Licenses and CertificatesSome positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain / maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.

Special Notice Items The Countyrequirespre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require bilingual abilities, in English and a second-language, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Working Conditions Incumbent may be required to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
