Library Officer
Permanent Part Time (0.8 FTE)
From $38.73 per hour plus statutory superannuation
Buloke Shire Council is seeking a friendly, community-focused Library Officer to join our Community
Development team and help deliver welcoming, inclusive and high-quality library services to our community.
About the Role
As a Library Officer, you will play a key role in providing efficient and effective library services across
Buloke Shire, with a particular focus on supporting all members of our community from early year
cohorts to the elderly. You will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining
library collections and systems, and contributing to programs that position our libraries as vibrant
community hubs.
In this role you will:
Deliver high-quality customer service at the library service desk, responding to enquiries,
complaints, and incidents in a timely and professional manner.
Manage library operations including memberships, loans, returns, reservations, shelving, and
inter-library loans.
Coordinate and manage Inter-Library Loans, including record keeping and reporting.
Assist in the selection and acquisition of library materials to meet community needs.
Ensure library spaces and collections are well-presented and accessible.
Assist in planning and delivering community programs that strengthen the library’s role as a
community hub.
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a qualification in Library or Information Management, or have relevant experience in a
community-focused role.
Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse
community.
Have strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in
a busy environment.
Possess sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Knowledge of, or interest in, current reading and information trends
Have, or be willing to obtain, a satisfactory Working with Children Check and Police Check, as
well as hold a current Driver Licence.
