Salary Range $72,720.00 - $90,900.00

This is an exempt (salaried) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include an assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in comparison to the market rate and requirements for the job.

Position Summary:

The Library IT Project Manager is a key member of a small, collaborative, and responsive team responsible for the enterprise-wide administration and support of multiple Library-specific technology systems and applications. This role manages and supports technology systems and initiatives across the Library, working closely with staff at all levels of the organization.

The position will eventually be based at the new Main Library, with a particular focus on supporting its unique technology spaces, specialized systems, and audio/visual technologies, as well as those at ImaginOn. The Library IT Project Manager will also provide technology assistance to Library customers when specialized support is needed.

Success in this role requires strong collaboration, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team responsible for critical Library technology systems. The position requires regular coordination with Mecklenburg County IT and other internal and external partners. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support special events and technology needs at Main Library.

Essential Functions:

• System administration of enterprise-wide applications to ensure reliable technology services to both internal and external customers.
• Coordinate support from Mecklenburg County ITS for library technology projects
• Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations and monitors service-level compliance
• Contribute regular reports and statistics of enterprise systems and initiatives
• Performs ongoing needs assessments of library technology to assure that new developments are incorporated in future systems
• Determine financial and business analysis resulting in documentation of expectations in establishing project initiation and scope management.
• Manage scope of project to ensure success in meeting timelines, budget, and customer expectations.
• Establish and manages project expectations.
• Establish project team leadership and determines resources allocation for project(s).
• Determine staffing and training requirements and manages all team tasks.
• Direct the design, development and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software to meet the ever-changing needs of the Library.
• Manage and oversee the collection and documentation of business requirements and technical specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of five years of experience in project management or as a project coordinator

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management or related field

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Licenses and Certifications:

• Project Management Certification
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three (3) years of experience providing technical support and troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a professional environment, including Windows 11, desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, and software applications, with demonstrated ability to effectively assist users with varying levels of technical experience.
• Experience with meeting room audio/visual systems
