We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Library and Information Coordinator to join our IT and Network Services team at Sandwell College for a permanent, term time only opportunity.
This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused individual with experience of library services, information management and digital technologies. You will play a key role in supporting students and staff by delivering an excellent library and learning resource service, promoting digital literacy and helping learners access the resources they need to succeed.
Working closely with curriculum teams, Learning Centre Assistants and IT Services colleagues, you will coordinate library operations, support digital innovation initiatives and contribute to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment across the College.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of Library and Learning Centre services
- Staff library desks, issuing and receiving resources whilst supporting users with their information needs
- Coordinate the work of Learning Centre Assistants and support the delivery of high-quality customer service
- Develop and maintain library collections, catalogues and digital resources in collaboration with curriculum teams
- Plan and deliver library, information literacy and IT induction sessions for students and staff
- Promote Learning Centre resources and services across the College
- Support and champion AI and digital innovation initiatives
- Develop and deliver workshops on citation, referencing and plagiarism awareness
- Provide first-line digital support in partnership with IT Services teams
- Monitor and maintain library systems, resources and learning materials
- Support students and staff with access to IT, audio-visual and learning technologies
- Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of library services
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
- A Level 2 or higher qualification in IT/ICT
- A Level 3 or higher qualification in Library, Information Science or a related discipline
- Experience of working within a library, learning resource centre or similar educational environment
- Experience of using library management systems and maintaining library catalogues
- Experience of supporting students and staff with information, learning and digital resources
- Experience of delivering presentations, inductions or workshops to groups
- Strong digital skills and confidence using IT and audio-visual technologies
- Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
- The ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others
