Waimakariri Libraries have an opportunity to join our team as a Casual Library Customer Service Assistant working across our libraries in Kaiapoi, Rangiora and Oxford.
This type of role is perfect for someone who prefers to work on an as-and-when-needed basis. This casual contract is multiskilled in nature offering a motivated candidate the opportunity to experience a varied and dynamic cross-section of customer facing library work.
Supporting a welcoming, professional, and responsive library environment this role delivers dynamic front-line services and includes working with our community to:
• access and download our eBook collection on their digital device
• navigate online courses to get their career to the next level
• recommend or finding their next great read
• help with the delivery of fun and engaging programmes and events for all ages
• ensure our amazing collections are accessible and look engaging.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the skills and empathy to support a diverse range of people in their use of the library’s spaces, collections, services and technologies. To be successful, you will need to be able to think quick on your feet, work well as part of a team, have excellent physical stamina, and effortlessly keep a smile on your face during a busy workday.
Our ideal new team member will have:
• a genuine interest and warmth for meeting, engaging with and helping people
• the skills to work in a busy people-centred environment
• ability to meet deadlines and quickly pick up new processes and procedures
• the skills to assist our customers in their use of technology
• an openness to continual professional learning
• the ability to interact well with others and enjoy being part of a fun team
• good physical fitness and the ability to be on your feet for most of the day
• the capacity to work weekend or evening work is an advantage.
