As the Library Circulation Supervisor for our Georgia T. Lord Library, you will oversee staff and daily operations in an assigned area for a large branch library under a Branch Manager's guidance. We Require

  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Liberal Arts, Social Science, Information Management, Business, or related field
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions

  • Supervises the overall operation of an assigned area
  • Hires and trains staff in the assigned area, including scheduling and conducting interviews
  • Develops performance plans, monitors and documents performance, coaches/counsels, and evaluates staff
  • Provide reference and reader advisory services and respond to customer concerns in person, on the telephone, and online
  • Schedules staff and authorizes leave to ensure an equitable distribution of work and adequate staffing
  • Processes library materials accurately, including the routing of materials and identification and handling of damaged materials
  • Identifies needs and provides recommendations to improve branch operations (use of space, equipment, staffing, training, etc.)
  • Assists with establishing, evaluating, and revising branch goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Oversees maintenance and safety of the assigned service area
  • Provides exceptional internal and external customer service while applying the district’s Great Expectations philosophy

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a library setting, typically consisting of office or administrative work, and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and walk/stand to a significant degree
