The Chester County Library, Exton has an opening for a part-time Library Assistant in the Technical Services Department. This position assists in ordering, receiving, and submitting invoices for library materials for the Chester County Library and its Henrietta Hankin Branch.
Responsibilities include unpacking and verifying received materials, preparing new materials for cataloging, entering receiving data into library order records and purchase order software, preparing invoices for payment by the Finance Office, creating purchase orders and placing orders, managing department mail, assisting with processing, and other duties as needed.
This position requires a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong time management and organizational skills, and basic skills to use a computer and various software packages. At least one year of public library-related experience, general knowledge of library practices and principles, demonstrated commitment to public and customer service, and general knowledge of current library technology are preferred.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; walk; kneel, stoop or squat; talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to reach or work with arms above shoulder height, bend or twist at the waist, climb stairs, push a cart up to 75 pounds, and lift and carry from 25 to 30 pounds for a distance of approximately three feet.
All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances: Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI).
Criminal background check is required.
State Child Abuse Clearance is required.
