Library Assistant – UI/UX & Graphic Design (26270048)

The Library is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join the Digital Initiatives and Research Cluster (DIR). The successful candidate should be a self-starter with a passion for learning new design methodologies. This position will be responsible for supporting design work in various areas, including mass email, digital scholarship projects, and the CollabTech Commons.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in designing and prototyping user-friendly web interfaces for digital scholarship projects and the Cluster's digital platforms, ensuring a seamless and accessible user experience through wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes;
• Create high-quality and engaging graphic materials in both digital and traditional print formats, including posters, banners, digital signage, event flyers, illustrations, email infographics, and other visual assets;
• Assist in video production and social media content creation, including shooting, editing, and post-production for promotional and educational materials;
• Provide counter service and operational support for the CollabTech Commons; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in Interactive Media, Graphic/Multimedia Design, Creative Media, or a related discipline, with at least one year of relevant experience in UI/UX web and graphic design OR a higher diploma or associate degree in one of the above or a related discipline with at least two years of relevant experience;
• Candidates are required to submit an online portfolio at the time of application. Fresh graduates and candidates with less experience, but with a strong portfolio, are also welcome to apply;
• Proficiency in core design tools including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Figma, and Webflow;
• Solid understanding of web design and UI/UX principles, including responsive design, web accessibility, and user-centered approaches;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, paired with a strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs;
• Fluency in both English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua, is required; and
• Proven experience in video production, and basic familiarity with front-end web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) will be considered an advantage.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
