Job Description

We are happy to share an exciting opportunity for a Library and Council Services Assistant role. This is a 12 month fixed term 22-hour role currently based at the Mangere Bridge Library.

Current work schedule is from Sunday to Tuesday and Friday, however we are open seven days, so flexibility is required. You will also be required to work at the other libraries in the Māngere - Ōtāhuhu Local Board as needed.

Our Library & Council Service Assistant play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Māngere-Ōtahuhu local board, provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.


No two days are the same, you will greet and assist customers with a variety of queries from assisting customers to access library & council services, supporting with the delivery of programmes and events, digital troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, and general computer queries.

Flexibility, adaptability, superb people skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for customer service and a can-do attitude are essential.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be willing to help create a whānau environment where everyone works together to achieve team goals
• Enjoy working with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds
• Be a quick learner who would be able to assist people with technology queries
• Love working with tamariki and can assist with programmes
• Proficiency in Te Reo Māori will be advantageous

We are expecting to appoint the successful applicant at a starting salary of $65,493 per annum, depending upon experience.
