This position will serve as a part-time reference and instruction Librarian and provide resources and assistance to promote student success. The part-time Librarian will provide online and in-person information literacy instruction, including Library orientation, research skills, and citing sources. The Librarian will also provide reference assistance during daytime and evening hours, staff the circulation desk, and may assist with cataloging and other Library operations as needed.

This person must have a strong commitment to service and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties

Deliver online and in-person reference assistance and instruction at all campus locations;

Staff the circulation desk as scheduled, including checking materials in and out, assisting with renewals and holds, and explaining borrowing policies;

Work as a liaison between the Library and designated academic programs;

Assist with collection development, including selecting materials and de-selection/weeding;

Assist with cataloging and maintaining accurate bibliographic and item records as assigned;

Create and update research guides and digital learning objects that promote Library services and resources;

Provide general assistance with all areas of Library operation as needed.

Minimum Requirements

(1) Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an A.L.A Accredited Library Science program.

(2) Knowledge of print and electronic research resources in a variety of subject areas.

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Experience providing reference services in an academic or public library setting.

(2) Experience teaching the effective use of online and print research resources in information literacy classes.

(3) Knowledge of trends and best practices in academic or public libraries.

2. Transcripts outside of the United States, must be accompanied by an evaluation completed by a NACES recognized agency and received by Human Resources at least two weeks prior to the first day of work.
