Job Description
This person will provide a variety of services in support of information literacy, including reference, instruction and consultation, educational leadership, and information services to students, faculty, staff and others. Flexible to meet the needs of the library.
This position is for evening coverage, approximately 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sundays and weeknights during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Master's Degree or in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree in Library Science in Library Science or in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or current enrollment in an MLS/MLIS program from an ALA-accredited institution with completed coursework in Reference Services. Required
- Master's Degree or undergraduate degree in another discipline, preferably one related to one of the College's programs. Preferred
- Coursework in teaching methodology. Preferred
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of multifaceted full-time librarian experience preferably in an academic setting or completed MLS/MLIS coursework in Reference services at an ALA-accredited institution. Required
- Experience with electronic resources and services. Required
- Experience providing reference. Required
- Teaching experience, preferably including library instruction. Preferred
- Experience working in an archive and/or special collection setting. Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, faculty, and staff. Required
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Required
- Proficiency with computers and requisite software packages. Required
Responsibilities
Provide library instruction in accordance with faculty and student needs.
Provide reference assistance, including consultation, to students and faculty.
Promote library resources and services to faculty and students.
Promote and support Information literacy among faculty and students.
In accordance with ACRL academic library standards, strive to exercise effective leadership, assessment, and guidance in appropriate aspects of all library services.
Engage in professional development and technology upgrading activities.
Perform tasks related to processing archival and special collections materials, as well as provide reference for Archives/Special Collections when Librarian, Archives and Special Collections is not available.Physical Standards and Special Job Features
Some lifting of materials not to exceed 40 lbs.
