Job Description

LCIS is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual for the position of Librarian. The Librarian will manage the school's library services' planning, administrative, management and budgetary functions. The Librarian will ensure the provision of professional and responsive library services to the school community and will manage the library's facilities and resources. The Librarian will support the IB inquiry learning process and play a key role in this process as mandated by the IB. The Librarian must carry out his/her professional duties in accordance with the philosophy, standards, and practices of the IB programme and with the policies and procedures of Lyford Cay International School.

Successful candidates will have:

• BA in Education required; MA preferred
• A post-graduate certificate in library science or current enrollment in a library science programme
• At least three years of librarian experience or equivalent
• Experience as a Head Librarian in an international setting preferred
• Experience in Web 2.0 technologies for educational uses
• Knowledge of recent developments in IT for both management and information
• Experience with the management of electronic resources
• Ability to promote research skills and standards
• A demonstrated capacity to provide high-quality educational leadership
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Disposition that embraces collaboration and flexibility
• Capacity to evaluate and critically reflect upon professional practice and to assist and support teachers in developing their own skills
• Experience of IB programmes preferred
• Experience with Turnitin.com and Managebac preferred
• A passion for teaching and learning
