Welcome to the SHE-CAN Scholar Application for 2026-27!
SHE-CAN is looking for young Liberian women interested in applying for our Leadership Program in 2027! Through the program, accepted scholars will apply for a U.S. college and university scholarship, receive guidance and support from a team of U.S. mentors, and participate in college preparation classes and leadership training. We're so glad that you are interested in becoming a SHE-CAN scholar, and we're looking forward to learning more about you through this online application. The application deadline is November 1, 2027. If accepted as a scholar, you will apply to college for the 2028/29 academic year.
Please note: Because this application form does not allow you to save and finish responses at a later date, we recommend that you review the questions on this form and complete your responses in a separate document. You can view a Google document containing the application questions by clicking here. Please note - you will need to make a copy or download the document in order to edit it. For all questions, please do not exceed the indicated character count. Use a "Word Count" tool to determine the character count of your responses. When you have edited and reviewed your responses, copy and paste them into the online application form and submit.

SHE-CAN (formerly Open A Door Foundation) is a 501(c)3 organization that provides young women from post-conflict countries access to higher education.
We are dedicated to finding young women who offer promise but would otherwise not have a chance at becoming an influential leader in their communities without a degree from a U.S. college or university. Once selected, each is given ACT and IELTS or TOEFL exam training, and matched with a team of 5-6 professional U.S. men and women who guide her in applying for college or university admission and scholarships. Through this unique mentoring model, a special bond emerges between the SHE-CAN scholar and her mentor team.
As we connect more and more passionate change-makers: mentors, graduates and donors, a powerful community emerges that is a resource and platform for increasing global female leadership.
