The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I), an employer of choice, is announcing an exciting opportunity to join our team as an IT System Administration - Senior/Specialist!
The Information Technology (IT) Division is an internal service organization responsible for providing information technology products and services in support of the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) agency’s business priorities so that L&I can keep Washington Safe and Working.
Within the IT Division’s Maintenance and Operations (M&O) program, the Network Infrastructure & Operation (NetOps) unit is responsible for ensuring the L&I network, servers, storage and backups, both virtual and physical are always available and run at their highest efficiency.
As the Domain System Administrator, this role works as part of a team of System Administrators, applying advanced technical knowledge to support all L&I’s Active Directory infrastructure and all servers which require 24/7 operation.
This position serves as the expert technical lead for L&I’s network servers and critical systems infrastructure, including Enterprise Active Directory, Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), Group Policy, and other Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms. IT provides expert-level leadership on highly complex, mission-critical, agency-wide systems, including identity management infrastructure, servers, and related services.
As an expert-level technician, you will perform complex work supporting L&I’s IAM environment, including Enterprise Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, and server operating systems. You will partner with IT and business staff to plan and implement solutions, maintain and troubleshoot systems, and develop scripts and workflows to automate processes.
This role requires advanced knowledge and skills and the ability to work independently on assignments at every level of complexity. As a technical lead, you will also mentor and support entry and journey-level System Administrators in the NetOps unit, along with other professionals across the IT division.

For this position, teleworking may be up to full time with the expectation of attending in person meetings and training occasionally or upon business needs. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, WA. Remote work from a state outside of WA requires approval.
