The Role

A well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Co. Galway is seeking experienced LGV / Van Mechanics to join its team. The workshop services a mixed fleet of light and medium commercial vehicles, including vans and small trucks.

This is a hands-on, onsite role suited to practical mechanics who enjoy variety, diagnostics, and working on a range of vehicles. Mid-level to senior candidates are preferred, and you will be expected to support junior team members when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair LGVs, vans, and smaller commercial vehicles

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using standard tools and diagnostic equipment

• Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks

• Guide and support junior mechanics in the workshop

• Advise on parts required and liaise with stores to ensure availability

• Complete service records, job cards, and maintenance logs accurately

• Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards

Essential Requirements

• Recognised trade qualification as an LGV, Heavy Vehicle, or Commercial Vehicle Mechanic

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on vans, LGVs, or light commercial vehicles

• Strong diagnostics and fault-finding skills

• Ability to work independently and support the team

• Full driving licence

• EU or UK passport, or existing right to work in Ireland

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: €42,000 to €46,000 per year, depending on experience

• Permanent, full-time role
