As a Financial Accountant, you won’t just be crunching numbers; you will be the operational heartbeat of our finance function You will provide the structure and clarity our teams need to innovate, ensuring that our resources are managed with precision, compliance, and efficiency.

As our Accountant, you will take ownership of our daily financial operations, acting as the primary point of contact for our accounting processes. You will ensure the accuracy of our financial data, support month-end closing, and manage the complex compliance landscape that comes with an R&D-intensive business. Reporting to the CFO you will be the go-to expert for operational accounting and tax-related administration.
Daily Accounting & Payments:
Take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping activities of the company. You will accurately record financial transactions in our accounting system, ensuring compliance with the analytical accounting plan and correct allocation of costs across projects and cost centers. You will manage accounts payable, employee expenses, bank transactions, and payment processing while maintaining complete and accurate accounting records.
Month-End & Financial Closing:
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial records. Perform balance sheet reconciliations, review general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and support monthly and annual closing activities in collaboration with our external accounting partners.
Tax & Compliance:
Support VAT filings, payroll tax administration, statutory reporting, and external audits. Coordinate R&D tax incentives and payroll withholding tax exemptions while ensuring compliance with Belgian accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
System & Data Management:
Keep our finance infrastructure running smoothly by overseeing our Belgian and US accounting software, proactively troubleshooting issues, and maintaining seamless data flow.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented finance professional who is ready to take ownership:
Financial Expertise:
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accountancy, Finance, or Business Economics and a unique blend of local compliance mastery (Belgian GAAP) and agile financial engineering to support rapid business scaling. Proven experience in a similar accounting role, with a solid grasp of financial processes, bookkeeping, and account management.
Operational Mindset: You are highly organized and comfortable managing multiple bank accounts and complex invoice structures with accuracy.
Tech-Savvy: You are proficient with accounting software and comfortable troubleshooting technical issues or working with support teams to get things back on track.
Analytical Rigor: You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that expenses, invoices, and payroll data are always correctly coded and documented.
Collaborative Spirit: You communicate effectively with external accounting partners and internal teams, acting as a reliable liaison for all things finance.
Bonus points if you have experience with R&D tax incentives or working in a cross-border (Belgium/US) environment.

Location
Our headquarters are in the vibrant city of Leuven, Belgium. While the magic happens on-site, some remote work options are available.
