Job Description

The University of Michigan-Dearborn, College of Arts, Sciences and Letters invites applications for the position of Lecturer I in the Composition and Rhetoric discipline for Fall 2022 to teach composition, primarily to first year university students. There may be an opportunity to teach business or technical writing courses. The appointment will be effective August 29, 2022, for one semester, with the potential for re-appointment in subsequent terms. Course scheduling is flexible and may include day, evening, hybrid, or online classes.

This appointment opportunity has been approved by the academic unit.

The full-time rate for a 100% appointment is $23,500 per term. There are several courses currently scheduled but will depend upon enrollment rates. Appointment can range from 25%-100%. Course salary is $5,875 per three-credit hour course.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching first-year writing.
  • A master’s degree in composition & rhetoric, professional writing, or a related field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with second-language or multilingual writers; and
  • Experience teaching in computer-mediated environments
