Responsibilities

Minimum salary for this position is $6,375 per section, based on a 25% effort appointment. The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the Lecturer I level for the period of August 24 through December 12, 2026. The position requires teaching two sections of a 3-credit-hour course POL 120 U.S. National Government and Politics. This course is an introductory U.S. politics course and covers U.S. political institutions, constitutional rights, and political behavior. The course sections are scheduled to be taught in the face-to-face format in the Grand Blanc High School to dual-enrolled students. The instructor must have course materials appropriate to teaching in a face-to-face setting. The budget for this position is for the fall 2026 term only.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Prospective candidates should minimally possess a master’s degree in political science or a related social science field. Graduate work must have been completed within an accredited program. Evidence of relevant teaching experience is required.

Desired Qualifications

Formal training in political science and in teaching at the secondary level is preferred

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
