The Department of Economic and Internal Affairs deals with important matters for the smooth functioning of the state, the economy and society as a whole. Amongst other things it is responsible for the areas of justice, the police, communes and the economy.

The Department of Education, Culture and Sports deals with all aspects in the context of basic and professional training, secondary schools and university education. It is also in charge of the promotion of cultural affairs, the preservation of cultural assets as well as sports promotion

The Department of Finance and Resources is responsible for the procurement and administration of major resources so that the Canton can fulfil its tasks efficiently.

Department of Health and Social Affairs

The Department of Health and Social Affairs deals with different tasks in the areas of health and social matters, consumer protection, the military and civil protection.

The Department of Civil Engineering, Transport and Environment sees to the creation of the major framework conditions for a good quality of life and a strong economic environment in the Canton of Aargau. Its staff deals with questions of spatial planning, energy, transport infrastructures and environmental concerns

State Chancellery

The State Chancellery supports the Aargau Government Council in terms of strategy, operational and legal affairs and communication. The focus of its activities lies in the optimization of the scope of activities of the Government Council.
