About the Position

A Legislative Representative is responsible for maintaining and cultivating favorable stakeholder and legislative relations through personal contact with a variety of stakeholder teams, internal reports, internal and external presentations, and development of messaging to support legislative efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain relationships with stakeholder representatives of utilities and other organizations as well as the Company’s corporate lobbyists to develop coalitions in support of Ameren’s positions on legislative issues.
  • Collaborate with Ameren’s Manager of State Government Relations and lobbyists to develop coalitions in support of the company's positions on policy issues and to implement strategy.
  • Be proactive and reactive with legislation and accompanying amendments. Collaborate with company experts to determine the company's position on such matters and effectively communicate the position to legislators, staff and stakeholders.
  • Track progress of all legislation and hearings on a daily basis and communicate such progress to internal and external audiences as appropriate.
  • Present to senior leadership on policy issues and strategy.
  • Represent Ameren Missouri at community outreach and stakeholder events.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to engage stakeholder groups and leverage current relationships to align them toward the company's position on policy issues.
  • Effectively communicate and advocate for policy positions to legislators, staff and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Government or similar is preferred. Specialization in Political Science or Business Administration discipline preferred. Five or more years of relevant lobbying, communications or similar experience required. Previous experience in working with utility industrial customers as well as experience with utility operations of power marketing, generation and/or transmission and delivery preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Demonstrated ability to lead a team with experience in negotiating difficult issues required. Knowledge of the utility industry and issues facing it is preferred. Extensive Knowledge of the Missouri General Assembly preferred.

Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$88,500.00 - $137,200.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
